This review is from: Mizuno Men's Wave Tornado 6 Volleyball Shoe (Apparel)
Better traction, more confidence, and jump higher - everything you could ask for in a volleyball shoe.

These are by far the most comfortable best volleyball shoes ever. The Mizuno Wave Tornado 6 shoes replaced a pair of very nice Asics Gel Rockets ( ASICS Men's Gel Rocket 5 Volleyball Shoe). In comparison, during my first volleyball practice, it was clear these Mizuno's are something special. The first match proved it. I don't think about shoes while playing. But I noticed that these shoes had much better traction. Where I slipped or didn't have the most positive foot plant with the Asics, these shoes held solid on the court. The heel has this big shock absorber that helps with landings and allowed me to jump just a little bit higher.

These are much lighter shoes. They also breathe much better, keeping my feet cooler... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great traction, cushioning, narrow width, September 29, 2011

Asics running shoes fits my feet the best with regular width size. If you're a Asics fan, WT6 feels much narrower in comparison. I think the tongue is shorter than most shoes.

I bought it for badminton instead of volleyball. WT6 is a volleyball shoe, it has great cushioning and superb traction. Plenty of breathable mesh to keep your feet cool even after playing long hours on them. Vertical jump with WT6 feels good due to the soft cushioned landing. If you're a volleyball player, WT6 should be high on your list.

If you're a fellow badminton player, be aware that it critically lacks lateral support. Its traction is too much for badminton and may lead to injury. Imagine lunging forward fast to retrieve a net drop, if you plant your front foot and it is "stuck" (without any sliding), the momentum have to be absorbed by either your knee or ankle. In my case, my ankle caved, luckily my ankle was strong enough to withstand the twist.

WT6 has thick cushion by... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome blossom!, May 2, 2012

First things first, I've never owned a pair of volleyball shoes before this one, so I've got nothing to compare them too. Also, I play low-power intermediate open gym volleyball, so I don't stress the shoes out to the max-hardcore, either.

Before this pair of shoes, I've been playing with some Nike Tennis shoes that actually worked really well for me. They were getting worn down though, so I'm going to use them strictly for tennis (which I play a lot less of).

This pair was a little bit tight when I first got them, but after wearing them for a couple of hours without really putting much stress on them, I broke into them pretty well and they were ready on game-day. The traction is pretty solid, though I still slide every now and then and you hear a loud screech on the gym floor, but it's still pretty decent. The shoes are pretty light, too, so you don't feel like you're being weighed down when you jump to hit.

The only thing I can't comment on, is... Read more
